INNOVATIVE AUDIO
Besides the depth imparted to the summing process not only e.q. but in particular reverbs and echoes are enhanced, each echo or reverberation being individually enhanced by the use of S.D.D. plugins during
thesumming process.Oversampling can have a beneficial effect when used in conjunction with S.D.D.depending on the
sample rate used as well as the sound desired, can be used prior to any effect in the channel or bus enabling oversampling to be applied to all subsequent plugins thus enabling individual
plugins to have their oversampling disabled.
.I find that to add depth to the fiinal mix bus a simulated asperity noise as found in some tape style plugins works exceedingly well with the S.D.D. process .In particular Reelbus by Tone Boosters allows not only asperity noise but all aspects of its detailed simulation to be controlled from zero to two hundred percent enabling maximum effect above and beyond that available with the actual hardware to be achieved.By carefully the balancing asperity noise to compliment the mix acieved with S.D.D. A free fully functioning demo ( save disabled ) can be found here along with several others..
A comprehensive list of plugins can be found at the K.V.R. wesite here However there are very
many and it can take a lot of time to find the ones you like so,I will endeavor to create links to some of my favourite free plugins as I feel there is a lack of up to date help in finding good free vst plugins.
A good place to start is in my opinion is with where a large selection of excellent plugins, many
designed to add an analog sound can be found free of charge. For some excellent clean compression and
more is a good place to start as they have also teamed up with V.O.S. to develop a sweet analog style e.q.as well as who also developed another exceedingly good compresser .Another of
my favourite plugin developers is who along with a desk emulation has many other must
have plugins particularly M Horse p3 an easy to use multi function channel strip.
As well as V.O.S. there are a few developers making excellent analog emulation plugins ,two who although aiming primarily at the guitar ,produce realisticaly modelled valve style plugins that will enhance a wide variety of audio being one another being who as well as guitar aimed plugins do a superb valve modelled e.q.
In a similar vein there are some beautifully modelled desk/general purpose analog emulations,
one being by the now defunct ( but still available ) as well as which is a cutdown ( but superb )
version of a commercial offering.
So far I have concantrated mainly on modern modelled processors ( as such a list seems otherwise unavailable ) there are however very many excellent non modelled f.x.
I.e.
Guitar:
Boogex and On the same page can be found the superb SIR which really comes under:
Reverb:
(ACTUALLY NON CRIPPLED DONATIONWARE ) and yet again the formidable
Dynamics:
, , and many of the above
E.q yet again and as well as
Multiband compression: The superb work of who also has IQ4GUI a super versatile dynamic E.Q. which despite a very small interface is an excellent and vastly under appreciated plugin which by adjusting any band to expansion can combine multiband compression with dynamic e.q.,and also has a lovely maximizer/limiter and sounds superb.
And some programmers who have a variety that needs exploring rather than explaining:
whose compressors multi and single band have an interface invaluable for learning purposes as well as pitch correction and beautiful processers of many varieties I refuse to apologise for again mentioning as well as which is a formidable D.A.W as well as providing a free comprehensive and versatile set of V.S.T.plugins. A free D.A.W.is windows compatible despite the name . is another. provide a comprehensive set of plugins many of which are apparently modelled on highly prized analog processors .
Also worth downloading are and dynamic convolution which I believe still has a free cut down version.
